Canada's Worst Driver 12

Premieres on October 24, 2016.

Amrinder

Hamilton, ON

Amrinder has no training on Canadian roads; he lucked out and passed his Ontario driving tests but never took additional training. He got his full driver’s license in Delhi, India and jumped right to his G license in Ontario. It wasn’t long before Amrinder got his first speeding ticket, because he didn’t pay that ticket his license was suspended, he then missed his court date to reinstate his license and his license was suspended again. According to his nominator and best friend Akash, Amrinder is clueless and doesn’t pay attention to what’s going on around him. He texts, speeds and makes it up as he goes. While driving Akash’s brand new car Amrinder rear-ended someone within 48 hours of Akash getting it. They both agree if Amrinder doesn’t change his driving habits their luck might run out.

Cody

Winnipeg, MB

Cody is a reckless driver.  He is one ticket away from loosing his license. Even though he’s lost his license 5 times, he still pushes the limits because he’s addicted to the adrenaline rush driving gives him. Stunting and speeding are some of Cody’s favourite things to do on the road. He’s even intentionally flipped his car “for fun.” Cody doesn’t suffer from the financial consequences of mistreating his vehicles because he’s actually a very talented mechanic. Cody’s girlfriend Sarah, has had it with his driving and gave him an ultimatum to clean up his driving or lose her as a partner.

Daniella

Kitchener, ON

Daniella lacks the confidence when it comes to driving.  She purposefully sought out a job that allowed her to work from home; this allows her to drive as little as possible. After relying on friends and family to drive her everywhere, Daniella now feels she is a liability on the road; which is her excuse for her disinterest and limited knowledge of driving. She has been known to suffer panic attacks when attempting to merge on to the highway. Her sister, Chantal, has brought Daniella to rehab to gain the confidence that she needs to start driving assertively.

Diana

Edmonton, AB

Diana is a spiritual being who drives with her heart. This substitute teacher, reiki healer, and artist, doesn’t think driving should stop her from her spiritual practice including tarot cards, reading the bible, burning incense, and praying. Diana gets inspired by her surroundings and often draws inspirational quotes on her car windows to help her through her day. Despite her in-car attempts to keep the positivity flowing, Diana’s own rules of the road have caused her to lose her license twice due to speeding, along with thousands of dollars in unpaid tickets. Diana’s brother –in-law, Joedy, is worried about her driving and wants her to have a wakeup call about her bad habit.

Krystal

Edmonton, AB

Krystal’s driving story started at the early age of 13 as a car thief. She would steal her neighbour’s cars in the middle of the night for juvenile joyriding. That was the full extent of her training. With so little guidance, driving for Krystal has become an emotional roller coaster for her and everyone in her vehicle. She often drives like an absolute monster in an attempt to get herself off the road the fastest way possible, or she breaks down and has to stop driving all together. It’s one or the other and nothing in between. Her driving has become a source of stress for her brother, Steven. Steven is desperate for Krystal to get the proper training that Driver’s Rehab can provide and put an end to her irrational driving.

Lou

Winnipeg, MB

At 41, Lou is a late bloomer when it comes to driving. After 15 years of having her learner’s permit Lou finally received her license just one year ago.  Her experience is limited to the 10 times she’s driven in her life – one of which ended with an accident. She has crippling fear of the road, which started 10 years ago when a drunk driver tragically killed her best friend. Now, every time Lou gets behind the wheel, she thinks about her friend and her anxiety starts to creep in. The first and only time Lou has ever driven alone, her nerves got the best of her and she hit another vehicle in a parking lot. With two growing children and plans to move to the country, Lou NEEDS to become a more confident driver for her own independence. Her extremely patient husband, Derek, accompanies her to rehab.

Mike

Renfrew, ON

Mike suffered brain damage when his car collided head on with a driver who fell asleep at the wheel. After years of rehabilitation he finally managed to earn his license back – but maybe he shouldn’t have. Mike has hit over 30 objects in his truck; poles, curbs, fences, other cars, you name it. Mike lacks awareness of his surroundings –he often veers into the right side of the lane and has trouble focusing on anything that isn’t directly in front of him. His wife Christian thinks rehab is what Mike needs to be successful as he’s a danger to himself, their kids, and everyone else on the road.

Tyler

Innisfail, AB

Tyler, age 44, is an accomplished welder but a horrible driver.  He has damaged his truck hundreds of times.  Driving is a stressful event for Tyler, so much so he turns to drinking. Tyler feels so nervous on the road that he tends to drink to ease the tension. Along with this bad habit, Tyler is also responsible for at least 20 hit and run over the past year. His wife Jana, has brought Tyler to rehab because she has had enough and is at the end of her road with the accidents and his drinking and driving.

Experts

  • Cam Woolley is the show's longest-serving expert, having been present in every season except the first, and has seen the habits of Canadian drivers change drastically over the years, with the most common offence having changed from DUI to distracted driving over the previous decade. He is the traffic expert on CP24 in Toronto, and had a 25-year career as a traffic sergeant with the Ontario Provincial Police.
  • Philippe Letourneau is a veteran high-speed driving instructor, who counts BMW and Ferrari among his clients. Since he joined the show in Canada's Worst Driver 3, the average car has gained considerably in speed and acceleration, with the high-speed emphasis of this season making his job a particularly important one.
  • Shyamala Kiru is the show's resident psychologist and relationship expert, a position which has become more demanding each year since she joined the show in Canada's Worst Driver 7, as the stresses in driving and everyday life seem to always be on the increase.
  • Tim Danter is the show's head driving instructor, a position he has held since Canada's Worst Driver 8. In this position he not only gives the drivers help and instructions for challenges, but gives them further lessons off-screen.
